The 3 Core Support Styles

Choose the level of direction your current capacity needs.

Body Doubling

Low directive, high presence

What it is

  • You are a regulated nervous system in the room.
  • You provide structure, momentum, and accountability.
  • You are anchoring, not leading.

Client experience

  • I know what I need to do, I just cannot start.
  • I get overwhelmed alone.
  • I need someone steady beside me.

What you provide

  • Time structure and momentum pacing
  • Check-ins and light prompts
  • Emotional regulation support

What you are not doing

  • Designing their system
  • Making decisions for them
  • Carrying heavy cognitive load for them

Least cognitively draining delivery style. High presence, lower strategy load.

Collaborative Direction

Mid-level strategy, shared executive function

What it is

  • You co-design systems with the client.
  • You both think, while you guide without taking over.
  • You transfer skill, not dependency.

Client experience

  • I do not know what works for my brain.
  • I need help designing something sustainable.
  • I want to understand why this works.

What you provide

  • System design and decision scaffolding
  • ADHD-informed education and strategic decluttering
  • Environmental restructuring plans and skill transfer

What you are not doing

  • Rescuing the client from all decisions
  • Running a done-for-you-only model

Primary premium work: high strategic value with shared implementation.

Full Implementation

High directive, you lead

What it is

  • You take executive control.
  • You design, decide, and implement.
  • The client receives direct relief when capacity is low.

Client experience

  • Extreme overwhelm and decision paralysis
  • Crisis-level chaos
  • Very low capacity

What you provide

  • Rapid sorting and physical organization
  • Space optimization and clear labeling
  • Decision-making authority during implementation

What you are not doing

  • Slow exploratory coaching before stabilization
  • Delegating core decisions back to a client in acute overwhelm

Most physically and cognitively demanding style in this framework.

Because this is the most draining level of support, it should never be positioned as the cheapest option.
